MUSIC SERVICES CELEBRATES THE SOUNDS OF REGGAE

During the month of July, Music Services brought the vibrant rhythms and rich culture of reggae music to life. Originating in Jamaica in the late 1960s, reggae is known for its distinctive offbeat rhythm, uplifting melodies, and messages of hope, unity, love, and perseverance. Throughout the month, patients explored the history of reggae, listened to influential artists, and experienced the unique sounds that make this genre beloved around the world. The patients and residents that come to the music classroom on building 38 had the opportunity to experience a variety of musical instruments and activities that are not available on their units. These hands-on experiences encourage creativity, self-expression, and an appreciation for different styles of music while providing a fun and engaging therapeutic activity.
